Well, folks, all good things come to an end!

January 20 2024

After 10 years plus, Downtown Sound Recording Studios will cease operations in its current form and location, effective December 31, 2023.

Thanks to everyone who jammed, rehearsed, recorded, mixed and mastered music at my place. Too many to name, but you know who you are, and I appreciate you entrusting me with your music these past 10 years.

It's been an interesting adventure. I'm fortunate to have met a lot of very cool artists, and developed friendships I value. I'm happy, proud and honored to have made some great records in a variety of genres and media, including vinyl.

I'm not done with the Hamilton music scene by any means, but it's time to change things up.

Downtown Sound Recording Studios is a hybrid boutique downtown Hamilton recording studio working with independent artists, producers and other music creators seeking professional recording, mixing and/or mastering services.

At Downtown Sound, our strength is helping artists achieve their musical visions through recordings for vinyl, CD or digital release, in a wide range of genres.

Who We Are

Downtown Sound is owned and operated by Mario Pietrangeli, a former CFMU-FM DJ and member of such bands as The Blue Demons, The High Tides, The Hoodlums, and The JetScreams.

Mario's bands have shared the bill with such international artists as Davie Allan & The Arrows, Los Straitjackets, El Vez, Barrence Whitfield & The Savages, Deke Dick

Mario has been recording bands and music professionally since 2005. His recordings have appeared on vinyl, CD and other media, and heard on radio, TV and the internet.

Mario is a graduate of Recording Arts Canada, where he was also an instructor in the Music Industry course for several years.
